Immaculate Conception Retirement Home (1987)
Regarding the services rendered to the elderly, the Immaculate Conception Retirement Home, which also includes a Day-care Centre, began operations on 1 October 1987. It was located in the Petisqueira’s Social Compound, an Estate belonging to the Misericórdia of Vila Real in Lordelo, a few miles from Vila Real downtown, where the Agricultural School of Arts and Crafts once functioned. It opened with 10 elderly and a capacity to house 30 senior citizens (36 from 1993 onwards).
