Nursery School and Kindergarten (1987)
The Misericórdia of Vila Real has a nursery school and a kindergarten, which began to operate on September 1, 1987. They shared the same facilities, located on Noruega Avenue, housing, in its initial phase, one hundred infants and children between three months and six years old, equally distributed by both services.
These facilities, however, began to serve exclusively the nursery, because in January 1993, after the conclusion of renovation works, the kindergarten was transferred to the building previously occupied by Vila Real District Hospital (former Military Hospital), allowing to welcome 100 children. Finally, in March 2000, after the completion of the renovation works in the building of the School-Residence Florinhas da Neve, located at Fonte Nova Street, the kindergarten was transferred to this location, where it remains.
